The heat wave has definitely rolled in … waking up to 25’C
and just waiting for it to hit 34’C today is hard on the mind.
Hey Toronto, what is the temperature
there?
The morning is the usual … Dustin
off with Nicole to the gym at 6:15 am, followed by an 8 am breakfast at the Figueroa. However, this morning was a little different
as Cathy had to escort Arjuna at 7:00 am for his first of 3 IB exams … what a
courageous soul!

Having just arrived on Sunday, Team Montreal proceeded to do
their set-up today.
The rest of Team
Canada addressed loose ends on their presentation boards.
Plans were to have lunch and retire back to
the hotel where individuals were to deliver their presentations to the various
chaperones to gain some helpful feedback.
Unfortunately a few SRC infractions levied on a few Canadian projects
suspended plans and delayed many of the practice presentations.
Apparently, there was a focused attack
(perhaps too strong a word) on a few Canadian projects.
Of course, both Dustin and Cathy did a
fantastic job with help from Stephan back in Canada in resolving the
issues.
The fact that a competitor
focused on some of our Canadian projects is perhaps a backhand way of showing
respect.

Nevertheless, all was settled and the Canadian team was again
all dressed in our Canadian reds and draped in our Canadian flags, and headed
over to the Convention Centre for the evening’s Opening Ceremony Dinner and
Celebrations.
We were joined by Cathy husband’s, Steve. Steve is a veteran Apple employee who was down in LA For business; he had a quick look at some of the CS projects and was utterly impressed with the scope and quality of “high school” work.
As in the past dayS, all of our students were back at the
hotel by 10 pm and the 11 pm curfew was met.
And of course, all is well because our Canadiens had beaten the Big Bad
Bruins 4-0 to tie the series at 3-3.
